laude from Hamline University and was editor of

 | BARBARA SEXTON SMITH
was a corporate
“intrapreneur” when most
folks were just getting
their tongue around its
funny-sounding cousin,
“entrepreneur.”
As a regional manager
for Wendy’s International in the early eighties, and
before “team” was a buzzword, she organized her
350 employees into a multifunctional work team.
Her efforts produced such profits, productivity, and
plaudits that she was selected from 3,000 managers
worldwide to manage the Wendy’s operation at
the Ohio State Fair, a signal indication that she
was Wendy’s “Employee of the Year.” She was a
founding leader of the Fresher Cooker Restaurant
chain, one of the first fresh-ingredient-healthy-heart
concepts in America, and served as its National
Franchise Director in building 18 restaurants in
seven states.
Since 1986 Barbara has helped to raise more than
$168 million for her community. She has worked
with the Fund for the Arts, Metro United Way,
Olmsted Parks Conservancy, and The National
Conference, to name a few. She won national
honors for her work. As a member of the National
Speakers Association, Barbara is a highly soughtafter
motivational speaker who inspires every
audience, every time!
In 1994 Barbara founded Quick Think, Inc., a
business consulting and leadership development
company.
In 1996 she was nominated for the Entrepreneur of
the Year Award! In all her pursuits, civic as well as
business, Barbara is a team builder. She is a team
